Rice Creek is truly a hidden gem in southwest Michigan. We continue to keep public access locations clean and clear, while working to remove obstructions and debris from the stream. Looking ahead, we are aggressively pursuing ways to restore natural flow, expose spawning gravel, reconnecting trout passage, and improve angler access all along Rice Creek.
Plans for 2025 and beyond include: Signage at the Holt Property for trail identification and the partners involved in the property maintenance. Paint the existing garage in DNR brown. Replacement of dilapidated stairway at Holt-Rice Creek Property, with the potential addition of additional access stairs and benches. Adjusting/repairing the rock slabs above Ketchum Park. DNR to install 1-2 monitors to compare data taken in 2024.
